Carlton River Bed & Breakfast

Activities

Water Sports

Carlton River Bed and Breakfast is central to some of the most popular beaches and surf spots in Southern Tasmania, as well as in the midst of the early convict history of Van Diemens Land. Even on the property itself lay the relatively intact remains of one of the oldest and longest serving Post Office buildings in Australia, Carlton River PO.

Kayaking is also great on Carlton River – the calm waters make for an enjoyable workout, and there are wonderful reflections in the river some mornings, the sunrise's are spectacular, fishing from the deck can be rewarding with flathead, bream and blackback salmon the best catch of the day, but most prefer to go the 2km to the mouth of the river where most are guaranteed a fish.

Horse Riding

If you are into horseback riding there are three places within 20 minutes of CRBB the best and most popular is Seven Mile Beach where a gallop on the beach is exhilarating, Seven mile beach is also the local nude beach.

Scenic Drives

The scenic drive through Lewisham, Dodges Ferry, Carlton and Connellys' Marsh through Dunalley and onto Eaglehawk Neck and Port Arthur is a highly recommended alternative to the more frequented route.
