Carlton River Bed & Breakfast

Location

The scenic drive through Lewisham, Dodges Ferry, Carlton and Connelly's Marsh through Dunalley and onto Eaglehawk Neck and Port Arthur is a highly recommended alternative to the more frequented route.

The property sits on several acres that was the original site of the Carlton River Post Office, one of the oldest in Australia. The remains of the office, look so special, almost overgrown with hawthorn and agapanthus.

Close By

Several surf and fishing beaches lies within 10 minutes drive of the property, including:

  • Carlton Beach (surf)
  • Primrose Sands
  • Connelly's Marsh (safest for toddles)

The oysters in the Carlton River might be a little daunting because of their size, and care should be taken before consuming them after heavy rains, but in general the brave will be well rewarded.
